Dear all my PA students
Latest info: 28/2/2025
I received a few students asking for my advice, since you plan to request the reevaluation of your final examination paper. I would like you to take note:
1. You have the right to conduct a rayuan. Refer to Peraturan Akademik UTeM (find through information on your right which I put on my blog), follow the procedure and pay the fee.
2. I also want you to evaluate your situation clearly:
(a) Check the 60% coursework marks, and self-evaluate if you have high scores on these marks. You can calculate the best results you will get based on the 60% you got.
(b) Ask yourself if you did your best in the final examination. If you know you have done your best, and you got a result that you think has the potential to be improved, then you can conduct a rayuan.
Otherwise, if you have questions that you did not answer, then you know you would lose marks.
(c) In the final examination, the 100% (on paper) will be converted to 40% as an actual mark). Therefore, 1% on paper is an actual 0.4%.
(d) We have a "supportive system" to check students whose borderlines marks,
for example x4 or x9, will be increased to y5 or y0.
For example: 64 will become 65; 79 will become 80.
(e) Many students think to request rayuan for a final examination paper reevaluation and expect a grade increase.
However, for 1% increase, the evaluator has to find 4% in your final examination paper. Once (d) is in place, this means, you need more marks to increase your grade.
To increase a 75% (Grade A-) student to be 80% (Grade A), it needs 5% on the actual marks and 20% in your final examination paper. You know the grade system well.
(f) Once you understand item (d), you know the lecturer has helped you.
(g) As such, evaluate your situation through (a) and (b), and understand (d) and (e), I hope you have a clear idea. If you would like to proceed with the rayuan process, you can do so.
